In a Press Conference held last week with M&C Shipping and Geest Shipping Line, Mrs. Velda Joseph, Director of NEMO gave an update of the relief efforts by NEMO.
The Director made a point of specially thanking the public for assisting and contributing towards the relief efforts of Dominica.   She also encouraged the public to continue to assist with the tremedous support thus far given to Dominica and to consider contributing towards the shortfall of building supplies.
Mrs. Joseph furthermore informed of the Return to Happiness (RTH) facilitators who have been deployed to Dominica to assist with the psychological needs of children arising out of the traumatic experience of the hurricane.  The deployment was based on a request from the UNICEF.
M&C Shipping, through the Geest Shipping Line has also been providing assistance to NEMO by making available unlimited containers to pack items donated by the public and also facilitating the free shipment of these containers to Dominica.  To date, a total of eight (8) containers have left Saint Lucia with the assistance of M&C Shipping.
Fabian Jagroop, Sales and Marketing Representative of M&C Shipping thanked his team for their support for working outside of regular hours to ensure that the containers left Saint Lucia.  He went on to inform that the usual fortnightly service to Dominica has been increased to a weekly one to facilitate the shipment of relief supplies into the island.  This service will be made available by M&C as long as it is required.
